Welcome to Pass Powderkeg Ski Area! Located the Crowsnest Pass, PPK is a not for profit, municipal facility focused on creating affordable recreation for families within the area and throughout Alberta.

Our staff make up the heart of our organization and help bring our mission to life.  They jump to go the extra mile and work as a team to make PPK a fun place to be.  We look for people who have a positive attitude, a passion for skiing and snowboarding and an interest in providing the best experience to our guests.

Our ski season runs from mid-November to late March, with our days of operation being Wednesday through Sunday (7 days a week during holiday weeks).  Our season requires flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

We are seeking full time and part time staff to help us operate for the season! All applicants must be at least 15 years of age or older, and have their own transportation arranged to the work place.

Open Positions:

Reporting to the Lift Operations Supervisor, Lift Operators assist in providing an outstanding experience for our guests on the hill. They are responsible for safely loading and unloading guests from the lifts as well as answering guest queries. This team has a key role in exceeding guest service expectations, by creating a friendly and positive atmosphere.  This position requires some physical labour including setting T-Bars, lifting and carrying snow.

Reporting to the Manager of Pass Powderkeg, the Lodge supervisor supervises lodge operations, including, but not limited to, the ticket office, rental shop, and food and beverage, as well as supervising cleaning of the lodge, cash management and supply ordering for Pass Powderkeg. The role will also assist in the creation of marketing materials, blogs and email newsletters. This position has a key role in insuring we are exceeding guest expectations by creating a friendly, inviting atmosphere.

Reporting to the Manager of Pass Powderkeg, the Lift Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising and providing direction to Lift Operators while demonstrating a standard of excellence that represents a safe, friendly and efficient department in accordance with the goals set out by Pass Powderkeg. The Lift Operations Supervisor must provide a welcoming and safe environment for staff and guests.

Working under the direction of the Manager of Pass Powderkeg in conjunction with the Patrol Team, the Patrol Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and reporting on trail conditions, advising on closures and safety signage, assisting with training needs and ensuring the health and safety of all guests and staff while using the resort facilities and terrain. This role will also act as a patroller with the additional coordinating duties. Our Snow Patrollers are well-versed in the Mountain Safety program and act as the first responders to emergency situations, accidents, or any other health or safety concerns.

Working under the direction of the Manager of Pass Powderkeg and in conjunction with the Patrol Coordinator, Snow Patrol are responsible for monitoring and reporting on trail conditions, advising on closures and safety signage, and ensuring the health and safety of all guests and staff while using the resort facilities and terrain. The Line Cook is a position critical to the guest experience at the Pass Powderkeg Ski Area. This position will be responsible for short order cooking, food preparation, service and for delivering an excellent guest experience while maintaining the highest level of food safety.

This position assists guests with ski/snowboard/snowshoe rentals within the Pass Powderkeg lodge. The technician assists with proper fitting of equipment, completes rental agreements, ensuring waiver compliance and completes equipment maintenance. The position may also be responsible for, at times, snow school, lift ticket and rental sales. In this multifaceted role, you will actively provide guest information regarding Pass Powderkeg events, services, facilities and assist guests in booking winter activities. You have lots of energy and are more than happy to help as needed within with the Guest Service Department.

The Snow School Supervisor plans, organizes and delegates work involved in the operation of the Snow School at Pass Powderkeg Ski Area. The Snow School Supervisor will assist with guests and booking of lessons, scheduling instructors and training. Due to the nature of the role, the Snow School Supervisor may also teach lessons and assist other instructors on snow.

Under the direction of the Snow School Supervisor, the primary role of the Ski/Snowboard Instructor is to provide professional ski or snowboard education and instruction based on the client’s capabilities. Instructors will be responsible for the experience of group participants while skiing or riding on the mountain. In order for this experience to be the best possible, Instructors must actively ensure that safety is paramount at all times, technical assistance is sound and personalized to the clients, genuine rapport with the client/s is established, each lesson is personalized and professional and an infectious passion for the sport is portrayed.

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Snowmaker ensures the snowmaking equipment is operated safely and in accordance with company procedures and departmental training. This role works cooperatively with other staff. The Snowmaker is responsible for upkeep on machines, hydrants and lines,maintenance, and snow creation across the mountain.

The Food and Beverage Representative will perform food service and responsible liquor service activities in a safe and appropriate manner while upholding food safety and legislative standards and sanitary conditions. The Food and Beverage Representative will be an effective team member whose contributions will assist in the achievement of departmental objectives.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Groomer Operator is a key team member in the operation of Pass Powderkeg.  This role ensures the snow grooming equipment is operated safely and in accordance with company procedures and departmental training. This role works cooperatively with other staff and continually strives to provide our guests the finest recreational experience by providing safe and well-maintained terrain.
