About PPK

About PPK

Friendly Neighbourhood Skiing.

Family Friendly.

Pass Powderkeg is a great place for the entire family to get out and enjoy winter.  Our mountain is big enough that it offers trails of all difficulty levels but small enough that kids can roam free and explore the mountain while returning to one easy centralized lift system and lodge.

A Great Place to Learn.

Our unique Learn to Turn program takes the anxiety out of learning by building confidence under the guidance of our incredible team of Snow School instructors.  On top of all that, graduates of our program earn a FREE Season Pass and other incentives to make winter snow sports a permanent part of their lives.

The Best Deal in the Rockies.

As a not-for-profit ski hill, Pass Powderkeg is focused on affordability and committed to offering unparalleled value to our guests.  In these days of ever increasing rates, you’ll find our pricing to be refreshingly affordable.

Delightfully Retro.

Opened in 1938, Pass Powderkeg is a throwback to when a family ski day was all about big smiles and exploring, not upsells and lift lines.  From our mid-mountain lodge, to our quirky events, to our beloved T-bars, everything about PPK is authentic and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Night Magic.

When the sun goes down over Crowsnest Mountain and the lights come on for night skiing, the entire experience changes.  With top to bottom lighting, Pass Powderkeg offers among the longest night skiing runs in Canada and a Terrain Park for everyone to play under the stars.  Check our full schedule for night skiing dates.

Those Views.

Nestled in the heart of the Crowsnest Pass, Pass Powderkeg offers sweeping views of the neighbourhood and a chance to get up close to nature at every turn.  Bring your camera and don’t forget to #PASSPOWDERKEG.

Bumps and Jumps.

A favourite of our gravitationally challenged guests, our Terrain Park offers a fun range of features for tricksters of all skill levels.  Unique to PPK, our dedicated park is at the base of our upper T-bar with a safe unload point after only a 2 minute lift ride allowing users to get an amazing amount of laps in to hone your skills.

Free Bunny Hill.

To better promote active lifestyles, we are pleased to offer FREE access to our Beginner lift and Discover area.  This is a great way for young children and first timers to get comfortable in the environment before taking the next learning step into a structured lesson.  Lift passes are complimentary, but still required.  Stop by our ticket office to pick yours up.

Something for Everyone.

With 1,000 ft of vertical over 27 trails, Pass Powderkeg truly offers something for everyone.  From our Discover area through to our beginner-intermediate lower runs and on to the more advanced trails of the upper mountain, PPK is a great place for families of differing skill levels and a great place to grow individual skill in a variety of terrain.

Community Owned.

Owned and operated by the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass, Pass Powderkeg is a community-focused ski area dedicated to providing an outstanding experience for people of all ages and skill levels. As an asset to the community, we remain true to our core values: it is a local ski hill with great snow, exciting terrain, providing access to a diverse alpine environment and a fun family atmosphere.
