With the kids back to school, the temperatures starting to dip and the leaves beginning to turn, it’s not hard to see that summer is at an end. The same goes for our summer operations as we now flip things over to get ready for ski season.
This summer, we added many different activities and events and made the leap to being a four season facility; a multi-adventure location to help guests get outside and discover the beauty of our neighborhood. Whether you attended any of our events, hike and dined with us, navigated the community trail on our E-Bikes or enjoyed a nice meal on our deck, we would like to sincerely thank you for the support of our endeavors. It was so great to see so many new faces come enjoy our facility.
A few highlights:
Steak Nights at the PPK with Alberta Craft Beers brought in was a great success. It was such a boost for us to experience the same energy in the lodge in July as we do in February. A big thanks to Chef Alejandro and his staff for all the hard work that went into this. Watch for it; you may just see the grill out on the deck this winter for special events.
The inaugural Hike Your Pass Off! Hiking Festival in August was a great first step in adding another great event to the summer calendar in the Crowsnest Pass. Even though the event was held during the peak of the forest fire smoke in the area, we still had a nice turnout, getting many newcomers to hiking into the forest or up a mountain for a memorable adventure. Thanks to all our partners, Crowsnest Outdoors in particular. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Seeing more and more bikers and hikers than ever taking advantage of the great trail system on the mountain and throughout the area, including UROC’s annual Rumhead Bikefest weekend in June. Did you know that the Crowsnest Pass is home to over 80KMs of single track mountain bike trails and growing every year? And a great skills park at the base of the PPK; so much fun for kids and great to build confidence. The best part…they are completely free thanks to the support of the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass and the hard work of volunteers who build and maintain this foundation of outdoor activity in our community. If you use these great trails, please consider purchasing a UROC membership ($25) to show your support.
Goats! We brought in a hungry crew of goats as an experiment this summer to help us manage vegetation on the hill. Surprisingly, they became media darlings, making the front page of the Pass Herald. We even brought the entire crew down to Friday steak night to the delight of all the kids.
For the past year, we’ve been re-imagining what Pass Powderkeg can be and trying many different things to see what fits. Like last winter, your support throughout the summer gives us confidence that we are on the right track.
