Snow Stars Lessons Format

We proudly follow the Alpine Canada Snow Stars Program for our lessons above beginner level.
  1. Training – A coach/instructor will teach skills through active, guided play and will support “Show” and “Do” activities.  The Snow Stars program is a 7 step progression that outlines key skills required for skiers/riders to progress from the beginner to the athletic skier/rider, and eventually to learn the basic tactical skills needed to be a ski racer.  These skills match the entry-level progression model – according to the “Skier Essentials” and “Train to Train” phases outlined in AIM 2 WIN – and are considered to be the building blocks for advanced skiers.
  2. Reward – Level Certificates are given when a skier/rider achieves the minimum standard for each of the seven steps in the Snow Stars program.
  3. Assessment – Final Certification will be given at the end of the year.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are one of the best ways to learn.  A Private lesson is tailored completely to you there is no waiting for slower group members.  This lesson is all about your individual goals allowing for maximum improvement.   Up to three people are allowed in a private lesson.   This is the only lesson where the student can request an instructor.   You get the most laps in a private lesson with line up priority during your lesson.  With children age 6 and under we suggest a “Parent and Child” private lesson.  Many times it take the reassurance of a parent being within sight to have a successful lesson. If the parent is skilled at skiing/snowboarding we will also teach you where to go with the child, how to structure a ski day for maximum enjoyment and to share in the enjoyment and thrills of skiing with your child.  We are also skilled at teaching the child individually without the parent if requested.
Note: We have observed a few children successfully learning how to snowboard before age 5, but these are rare children with great athletic skills and usually skate board training. Skiing is far easier to learn at age 5 and under.
Note 2: Ice skating is a great cross-over sport for skiing. We recommend a couple of sessions on the ice skates learning gliding, turning, and stopping.  Comfort on ice skates is an excellent platform to have a successful learn to ski experience. Public ice skating at the Crowsnest Sports Complex is free.
1 Hr Private Lesson (Individual or Parent+Child) $85
2 Hr Private Lesson $150
4 Hr Private Lesson $250
